Corrected Grade Scale

There is a typo in the grade scale given in the policy handout. Here is the corrected grade scale. This change will not have a negative impact on anyone's grade: because of adjustments in your favour, if you get at least the number given on the grade scale (either grade scale), you will get the corresponding grade.
Grade Scale (Corrected)
grade + grade regular grade - grade
A 760 720 704
B 688 640 624
C 608 560 544
D 528 480 464

Web resources

There are lots of webpages devoted to calculus, but they are not always correct. Some UNL instructors have posted materials, including old tests, and I've listed one here.

A comprehensive list of calculus resources
Mohammad Rammaha's home page (the calculus stuff is halfway down the page)
John Orr's Calculus page.
I will add web pages here, as I find them. Feel free to email suggestions to me.

Final Exam

The Final Exam is on Thursday, December 14, from 6 to 8 pm. You are expected to arrange your personal schedule so that you can write the exam at the designated time. The room you take the exam in depends on your recitation section and will be announced in class and posted here during the last week of classes.

Gateway Exam

The paper gateway exam was given on October 12th. The answers to the paper gateway exam are available for 9:30 class and 11:30 class.

You can take practice versions of the gateway exam.

Term Exams

Term Exam 1 was held on Wednesday, September 20, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The answer key to the test is available.
Term Exam 2 was held on Wednesday, October 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The answer key to the test is available.
Term Exam 3 was held on Wednesday, November 29, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. It covers from Section 4.5 (Optimization problems) up to the middle of Section 6.1 (volumes by general slicing but not volumes of revolution). The answer key to the test is available.

You should arrange your schedule so that you can take these exams at the designated times. If this is not possible for some reason, you should let me know about the scheduling conflict as soon as possible. Check the room assignments, listed below, carefully and make sure you go to your Exam room, which is probably different from your regular Recitation classroom.

To prepare for exams, you are encouraged to

  1. prepare a summary of the material, with definitions, theorems, formulas, and methods,
  2. review the previous quizzes and collected homework, and
  3. Then review the daily homework. If you had trouble with a daily homework problem, you might want to look at other similar problems in the textbook.

Daily Homework

Most days, I will list 10 or so problems from the relevant section that you absolutely should do. You are responsible for the entire section, so you probably should look at other problems in the section, especially the early problems. The first day list is unusually long because it is a review of material you should already know from prerequisite courses.
