- Text: Algebraic Geometry, Robin Hartshorne.
- Content: We will do Chapter 2 and maybe parts of Chapters 1 and 4,
in addition to background topics,
depending on the interests of the class.
- Goals: To give students a foundation
and some self-sufficiency for further
study and reading in Algebraic Geometry.
- Coursework:
- Homework: There will be periodic homework assignments.
The goal of the assignments is to help students deepen their
understanding of the material. It is perfectly
acceptable to discuss assignments with other students.
In order to get the most out of the class and the feedback
I will give on write ups, each student
should write up his or her final solution independently.
- Exams: There will be no exams.
- Grades: Your semester grade will be determined by
the following items with the weights given:
Homework 100%
- Departmental Grading Appeals Policy: The Department of Mathematics
and Statistics does not tolerate discrimination or harassment on
the basis of race, gender, religion or sexual orientation. If you
believe you have been subject to such discrimination or harassment,
in this or any math course, please contact the Department. If, for
this or any other reason, you believe your grade was assigned incorrectly
or capriciously, appeals may be made (in order) to the instructor, the
Department Chair, the Departmental Grading Appeals Committee, the
College Grading Appeals Committee, and the University Grading Appeals Committee.
