Operator Algebras Seminar

The operator algebras seminar is held in Avery Hall in a room yet to be determined and at a time yet to be determined, but will probably be in Avery 119 at 3:30 on Wednesdays. ( Directions.)

To request electronic announcements of talks, to ask to speak, or for any questions related to the seminar, send an email to Allan Donsig (adonsig1 at unl edu).

Jan 17 Ken Davidson (of the University of Waterloo) Atomic Representations of 2-graph algebras
Abstract: The (nonself-adjoint) operator algebra associated to a 2-graph on a single vertex is just an algebra generated by a finite number of generators with special relations and a natural norm. An atomic representation has an orthonormal basis on which the generators act as partial isometries that permute the basis up to scalar multiples. I will explain how these arise, and how to classify the maximal completely contractive ones.

This is joint work with Stephen Power and Dilian Yang.
