Support the Department of Mathematics

A few words from the Chair

Funds that are made available to our department from many of our friends and alumni are of critical importance to the department. They support all aspects of our work in research, teaching and outreach, and they are particularly critical in times of financial constraint.

Just in the past year we have made use of these funds to support many scholarships for undergraduate students, awards for graduate students and undergraduates, student activities, research conferences and research visitors, named postdocs and professorships in the department, our work with the mathematics education of teachers, and many aspects of our extensive educational outreach program.

I appreciate any contributions that you are able to make, large or small, to sustain and grow our foundation funds in support of all aspects of our work. The donation form below contains a list of some of the existing funds at the University of Nebraska Foundation that support the department’s work. In addition to these funds we benefit from campus wide funds that support undergraduate scholarships, graduate student fellowships, and six distinguished professorships including the Dale Jensen Chair in Mathematics and the Milton Mohr Chair in Mathematics. I invite friends of the department to contribute to an existing fund or to contact me to discuss creating a new fund for a specific purpose. Donations made to the department through the University of Nebraska Foundation are tax deductable.

With thanks to all of our friends and alumni who support the work of our department,

John Meakin,
Chair, Department of Mathematics
