The Emeritus Faculty Fellowship

The Emeritus Fellowship is given each academic year to support graduate student research. It honors our emeritus faculty and is funded by contributions from faculty and alumnae. The current value of the award is $750. The following scholars have received Emeritus Faculty Fellowships:

Grace Chisholm Young and William Henry Young Award

In 1996, Roger and Sylvia Wiegand established a fellowship for the support of graduate student research in honor of Sylvia's grandparents, Grace and William Young. In 1895, Grace (who studied with Felix Klein in Gottingen) became the first woman ever to receive a PhD in mathematics from a German University. Both Grace and William were well-known mathematicians in their time. The current value of this award is $1000.
