Title: Examples of numerical computations for discrete data

Abstract: This talk will present examples of numerical computations combined with ideas from intersection theory, sheaf theory and lattice basis reduction algorithms. The examples serve to illustrate how numerical methods can contribute (in sometimes unexpected ways) to the computation of discrete invariants of algebraic varieties.
