Dan Augustyn is a personal injury attorney with Augustyn Law Office in Lincoln.  He is the only certified NFL Players Association Agent in the state of Nebraska. He graduated from UNL with majors in Mathematics, Philosophy, and Political Science.

Daniel Brox is a management consultant and associate principal with ZS Associates in Princeton, NJ.  He graduated from UNL with a major in Mathematics and minors in Economics and Political Science.  He works with pharmaceutical and biotech companies to help improve their sales and marketing effectiveness.

Karna Bryan is a senior scientist at the NATO Undersea Research Center in La Spezia, Italy.  She is currently project leader of the Maritime Situational Awareness project.  She graduated from UNL with a major in Mathematics.

Therese McGuire is a nationally recognized authority in public policy issues and a professor of management and strategy in the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.  She graduated from UNL with majors in Mathematics and Economics.

Lucas Sabalka is an applied mathematician at Nebraska Global in Lincoln.  He graduated from UNL with majors in Mathematics, Computer Science, and History and minors in Physics and Psychology.

Barbara Zach is executive director of Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra.  She graduated from UNL with majors in Mathematics and Piano Performance.

The Department of Mathematics and the College of Arts and Sciences believes that you can go just about anywhere with a degree in Mathematics. To help you develop your after graduation plans, we have several resources to help you.

Career Coaches

The College of Arts and Sciences has two Career Coaches, Meagan Savage and Kristen Aldrich, in the Academic and Career Advising Center. They can help you explore career options, identify ways to build experience, and prepare to apply for internships, jobs, or graduate school, including help with resumes, applications, and interviewing.

Gaining Experience

There are many ways to gain experience while in college. Here are five main areas that many students gain experience through:

  • Internships: Get valuable experience, build skills, and try out an employer or position. Many internships lead to permanent jobs! Find internships through Handshake!
  • Research: Work in a lab, partner with a faculty member, or propose your own research through UCARE. Discover more about the research areas of our department and our faculty’s research interests here!
  • Education Abroad: Sharpen language skills, gain independence, and develop a global perspective, while earning credit with Education Abroad.
  • Leadership: Join at least two student organizations each term. Network with others and work toward a leadership position. Student Involvement can help you find your community!
  • Service: Get involved in a one-time or long-term service opportunity. Engage with the community and contribute your time and talents. There are many volunteer and service opportunities available through the Center for Civic Engagement.
