My research interests are in the field of low dimensional topology. More specifically, I have recently been enjoying the study of knotted surfaces from a diagrammatic point of view, as well as learning more about classical knot theory and the general theory of 3- and 4-manifolds. I don't get to study it that much, but I also really like group theory. My favorite fact is that the primary unknotting operation for surface knots is adding tubes (i.e. surgery on 1-handles).
I recently gave a talk at the Banff International Research Station (BIRS), which is currently available to watch online! Click here to watch.
