Class Attendance: Is required. If absent, it is incumbent upon the student to determine what has been missed as soon as possible. It is advisable to consult with the instructor.
Homework/Projects: Syllabus homework assignments will not be graded, but students are expected to work them and ask questions about them, since exam questions will be similar in nature and class discussion will involve them. Students will be given an account in the Mathematics Computer Lab for computer exercises and projects, and are expected to attend a lab orientation session if they have not already done so. One project will be assigned and some extra credit computer exercises. Current information about the course will be available through this lab account and through the WWW (via the Math 314H homepage or my home page). This is a good way to keep track of due dates for homework collections and current activities in the course.
Reading Assignment: Read the sections of the text before they are covered in class lectures. This is a standing assignment throughout the semester. Some part of lecture will be premised on the previewing of material to be covered in lecture.
Grade: Five chapter hour exams will be given. The exams for chapters 1 and 4 will be worth 50 points and the others worth 100 points each, for a total of 400 points. The project will account for 100 points. The final exam will be worth 200 points. The final grade will be based on these 700 points.
Final Exam: Will be comprehensive. To be given on 7:30 - 9:30 am, Friday, May 4, in room 104 BH.
Grades of "I", "W" or "P": These grades will be given in strict accordance with University policy. (See any Schedule of Classes for the relevant information and dates.)
