A LIST OF PFF ACTIVITIES

AT PARTNER CAMPUSES

This list is not meant to exclude other activities that PFF Fellows and faculty mentors may find useful. Also, we understand that a single semester provides time enough for engaging in only a subset of these suggested activities.

Suggestions

  1. Observing class sessions.
  2. Team teaching a class unit; delivering a mini-lecture.
  3. Observing/participating in student advising sessions.
  4. Mock job interview
  5. Discussing PFF Fellow’s vita, dossier, and cover letter.
  6. Arranging meetings with other faculty members to discuss academic life in the department and on the campus.
  7. Discussions with faculty, chairs, and administrators concerning tenure and promotion requirements.
  8. Shadowing experience—shadow a faculty member during a typical day.
  9. Attend departmental/division meetings.
  10. Participate in new faculty orientation/talk with faculty development folks.
  11. Visit the teaching learning center/campus life office/meet with college assessment Officer.
  12. Deliver a research talk at a faculty/student colloquium
  13. Review faculty handbook
  14. Discussing/participating in curriculum development
  15. Visiting with faculty/administrators working with instructional technology and/or the delivery of distance education.
  16. Faculty governance: visit with representative from faculty senate and/or union representative.
  17. Meet with members of particular faculty caucuses. Also, Fellows may want to meet with minority faculty members.
  18. Fellow may talk with undergraduates about the experience of graduate school. Perhaps the Fellow may assist the department at the university’s graduate school fair.
