Math 198: Graphic Adventures


Graphic Adventures is a course intended for Freshmen and Sophomores who enjoy exploring mathematical ideas. The topic is graph theory, but absolutely no background in that subject is expected. The course will have very little in the way of formal lectures. Instead, the students will investigate properties of graphs, form conjectures, test these conjectures, and develop proofs on their own (with my guidance, of course). There will be no formal text for the course. Instead, we will be creating our own textbook as we go, and it will contain all the definitions, examples, conjectures, proofs, etc. that are discovered during class each day.

The course is Math 198, "Freshman Seminar", but it is indended for both Freshman and Sophomores. The course does not yet have a call number and so you cannot register for it right now. But we will have a call number for it soon.
