Description
The conference is in conjunction with the Howard Rowlee Lecture Series. The 2015 Rowlee Lecture will be given by the distinguished Professor Irene Fonseca, Mellon College of Science University Professor of Mathematics at Carnegie Mellon University. The subsequent weekend, the conference will convene eminent researchers and junior mathematicians to discuss the recent advances in Continuum Mechanics, Partial Differential Equations, and Scientific Computing.
Location
The Rowlee Lecture and all conference sessions will take place in Avery Hall. The Rowlee Lecture will be presented in Avery Hall Room 115. The conference sessions will take place in Avery Hall Room 110. The poster session will take place in the MRC in the basement of Avery Hall. Format
The conference will consist of 20-25 minute talks. Between each of the presentations, there will be 5-10 minutes available for questions and a break.
Equipment
A computer projector and a PC computer will be available for all presentations.
Lodging
A block of rooms has been reserved at the Holiday Inn in downtown Lincoln. To receive the conference discount, call the hotel directly at (402) 475 - 4011 (ask for in-house reservations) and specify that you would like a room in the UNL Math block. The hotel will release the unreserved rooms in our block on April 5. If you plan to stay at the Holiday Inn, please make your reservations before April 5. The room rate includes a hot breakfast in the hotel restaurant. The hotel is within walking distance from campus, and it also provides a shuttle for transportation to/from the Lincoln airport.
Air Travel
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is accessible from the Lincoln Municipal Airport (LNK), located approximately 4 miles from the main UNL campus and the Holiday Inn hotel, and the Omaha Eppley Airfield (OMA), which is about an hour away. Shuttle transportation from Omaha can be arranged via OMALiNK ($50 per person one-way or $90 per person round-trip).
Parking
We recommend all participants to reserve the accommodations at the Holiday Inn, which is a short walk away from the UNL Mathematics Department where the Rowlee Lecture will be held on Friday. If you are commuting, you can park at one of the downtown Lincoln parking garages for $10. There is also parking available on campus in the garage by the Stadium or at the meters by Avery Hall.
Expenses
The NSF is providing funding for the conference. To facilitate reimbursement for travel expenses, please save all your receipts.
