Teachers of Math Meet in Crete

The second annual Nebraska Association of Teachers of Mathematics (NATM) summer conference will be held July 25-26, on the Doane College campus in Crete, Nebraska.

Besides the regular sessions that cover a multitude of math topics, the conference will have two special guest speakers. Dr. Doug Christensen, Nebraska Commissioner of Education, will give a general talk on Thursday. Jim Rubillo, executive director of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), will present at a session on Thursday and another on Friday.

Thursday night there will also be a special attraction as all participants will help in making a giant blue whale. Come and see a plastic model of the largest animal on the planet come to life in the parking lot.

The campus at Doane is always a relaxing environment to help get you ready for the next school year. The great outdoors, the speakers, the food, and the conversation are guaranteed to be a perfect place to add flavor to your teaching career.

If you are interested in presenting a topic at the conference or attending the conference, contact Tom Price at pricet@norris160.org or visit the NATM website at http://www.nde.state.ne.us/NMSI/natm/.
