| The University of Nebraska-Lincoln hosts Science Day 2001 on March
31st from 9am-12pm with registration beginning at 8:00am. This is
an opportunity for middle school and high school students to pursue
interests in the sciences. Participating students will be involved
in a variety of exploratory activities, such as "Earthquakes,
Shaking Up your Life" and "Robotics." Activities will
include interactive sessions between participants, UNL faculty, and
UNL students.
Science Day activities will be held in conjunction with the State
Science Olympiad. competition. Students may participate in Science
Day activities without competing in the Science Olympiad. All activities
will take place at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln city campus.
Science Day 2001 is made possible through major funding from the
UNL Mathematics and Science Education Area of Strength in the College
of Arts and Sciences; scholarship support from the College of Agricultural
Sciences and Natural Resources, and the departments of Biological
Sciences, Chemistry, Food Science and Technology, Geosciences, Physics
and Astronomy, and the School of Natural Resource Sciences. The
Center for Science, Mathematics & Computer Education povides
staff support. Science Olympiad is a partnership with the Nebraska
Department of Education, Nebraska Academy of Sciences, and the University
of Nebraska-Lincoln.
