Book Helps Students Prepare for College Math

This summer, the Junior Mathematics Prognosis Program (JUMP) published the third edition of Mathematical Requirements Associated with Academic Programs at Nebraska Post-Secondary Institutions. The book details the courses and credit hours of college-level mathematics that must be completed in order to finish degree programs at 37 Nebraska universities, colleges, and technical schools. Students and educators may also use this resource to learn about admission requirements. The publication informs high school students about the mathematical proficiency needed to attain their career goals. "Information for the book was taken from the most recent university, college, and school catalogs available. We hope it will be very helpful to students and their counselors as they make educational and career plans," said Dr. Melvin Thornton, Director of the JUMP Program. UNL students Sadie Meyer and Andy Knudsen assembled and edited the information for the book.

One book has been mailed to every high school in the state. Additional copies may be requested from the JUMP program via phone (402)472-6348 or e-mail jump@math.unl.edu.
