When Emily worked at the Presidio in San Francisco, her boss brought her a kitten which he had found running wild in the Sierra Nevada mountains. We named her Shorty (AKA Short Cut). She was a sweet petite manx who liked to sit on top of our computer monitor while it was running. She would also perch on our shoulders and nestle her claws in our hair, while purring incredibly loudly. She died at age 15, on September 23 (1996).
