Prior to coming to UNL, I grew up in Mahtomedi, Minnesota, a suburb of St. Paul. Here I developed my love of mathematics as well as a passion for sports and music. From Minnesota I chose to attend Luther College in Decorah, Iowa for undergrad, intially with the idea that I was going to be double majoring in Mathematics and Economics and become an Actuary. This however was not meant to be. As chance would have it I was offered a job working drop in tutoring for the math department and realized I had found what I really wanted to do, teach. This, combined with a growing interest in mathematical research convinced me that my future was in academia. Nebraska's joint focus on both research and teaching opportunities for its graduate students, combined with glowing recommendations from alumni, ultimately led to my decision to move to Lincoln.

When I'm not busy teaching in the classroom or working with a PDE model, one will likely find me with my dog Onyx. Onyx is a 6 year old German Shepherd who enjoys being outside, playing fetch, hiking, and long walks. The passion for sports and music I developed as a child is still with me, and I often participate in intramurals on campus as well as play around with my guitar and piano. I am a big sports fan in general, regularly attending Nebraska football games and rooting for the teams I grew up with back in Minnesota. Lastly, I am also a bit of a tech nerd, having built and remodeled several computers in my spare time.
