Scanner

The first time you use the scanner there is some initial set-up (these are per user settings)

After logging in, run HP Solution Center which is on the Desktop and click on Settings.

Next, click on Button Settings. You will get a dialog box like

You want to change the settings for all the Buttons under the Tabs

For each Button you need make sure the option for Prompt for these settings at time of the scan is checked

After the initial set-up, the buttons on the scanner can be used.

If you need to do, two sided scanning (duplex), there is a check box on the dialog box that comes up when you press one of the buttons. The duplex option only is avaliable if the set of papers you want to scan is sitting in the automatic document feeder when you press the button.

The option that you will most want to change is the File Type setting, typically you will want to select PDF instead of BMP.
