Wiley Web-Tests for Calculus

With Apple's release of Mac OS Runtime for Java 2.0 (MRJ 2.0) that incorporates all the new Java features introduced in version 1.1 of Sun's core Java specification, you can run the Wiley Web-Tests for Calculus on Mac OS computers.

System requirements

In order to run the Wiley Web-Tests you will need MRJ 2.0, which has the following system requirements:

MRJ 2.0 works with Macintosh or Macintosh-compatible systems with 68040 or PowerPC microprocessors. System 8.0 or later is required with a minimum of 8 MB of free RAM while your web browser is running and at least 30 MB of free disk space. Systems with 68040 microprocessors must have 32-bit addressing turned on. This can be done by using the Memory control panel. The RAM requirements vary depending on usage.

Note: Using the Custom Install option of the MRJ 2.0 Installer, you can also install MRJ 2.0 on systems running System 7.6.1. At this time, however, this is an unsupported configuration. Apple expects to have official support for System 7.6.1 in early 1998.

Mac OS Runtime for Java 2.0 can be downloaded from: http://www.apple.com/macos/java/text/download.html

In addition, you will need 6 MB of free RAM for the Wiley Web Tests application itself.

Once you have downloaded and installed MRJ 2.0 you are ready to install the Mac OS specific portions of the Wiley Web Tests.

Installation

You should already have installed the Wiley Web-Tests onto your hard drive. To do this, follow the instructions for ``Unknown operating system'' in the system README.html file.
  1. Begin by downloading Mac_Web_Test.sit.hqx.
  2. Once you have unbinhexed and unstuffed the archive you will have a folder named ``Mac_Web_Test''. You now just have to take the two files inside this folder (a folder called ``classes'' and a application called ``WepTests.app'') and place them in your WebTests folder.
  3. Now just double-click WebTests.app to start the Wiley Web-Tests.
