Graduate Advisory Committee

Responsibilities of the Graduate Advisory Committee: Advise the department about all aspects of the graduate program. In particular, administer the graduate program, administer the graduate exams, recruit graduate students, advise about policy issues concerning the graduate program, advise about curricular issues affecting the graduate program, administer the GAANN grant, provide recommendations for graduate student awards and scholarships and provide advice on preparing graduate students for the profession.

Scientific Advisory Committee

Responsibilities of the Scientific Advisory Committee: Advise the department about long range planning and hiring, overview of actions that will advance the department in all aspects of its mission.

Undergraduate Advisory Committee

Responsibilities of the Undergraduate Advisory Committee: Advise the department about all aspects of the undergraduate program. In particular, administer the undergraduate program, advise about undergraduate curriculum and major/minor requirements (including ACE requirements), recruit undergraduate majors, provide recommendations about undergraduate awards and scholarships, promote undergraduate research and provide career advice for undergraduates.

Undergraduate Activities Committee

Responsibilities of the Undergraduate Activities Committee: Serve as faculty advisors to the Math Club, Pi Mu Epsilon and the Women's Undergraduate Math Network. Facilitate a sense of community and promote mathematical activities for undergraduate math majors.

Alumni Relations Committee

Responsibilities of the Alumni Relations Committee: Maintain a database of alumni, strengthen relations with our alumni, advise on the creation of an external alumni advisory board and produce a department newsletter.

Teaching Advisory Committee

Responsibilities of the Teaching Advisory Committee: Advise the department and act as a resource for the department about all aspects of teaching. In particular, mentor junior faculty, postdocs and graduate students in teaching, promote discussions/seminars about teaching, discuss and, if needed, conduct peer review of teaching, advise faculty about preparation of teaching portfolios and identify nominees for faculty teaching awards.

Technology Advisory Committee

Responsibilities of the Technology Advisory Committee: Administer our math lab, oversee the work of our computer support staff, serve as a resource and advise the department on all aspects of use of technology in the classroom and in research, advise the department on issues related to our website and advise the chair on technology resource needs.
