For excellence in science, mathematics and engineering mentoring

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Nebraska received a 1998 Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring. The award was based on the outstanding success in mentoring female graduate students in the 1990s. Associate Professor Judy Walker received the award on behalf of the department in the Roosevelt Room of the White House on Thursday, September 10, 1998. This award represents a commitment to teaching everyone regardless of gender.
