Conference on Harmonic Analysis and PDE's

In conjunction with the Howard Rowlee Lecture Series

University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), April 16-18, 2010

The 2010 Rowlee Lecture was given by distinguished Professor Carlos Kenig (University of Chicago). The subsequent weekend conference convened eminent researchers and junior mathematicians to discuss the recent advances in harmonic analysis and its applications to problems in partial differential equations.

Schedule

The Rowlee Lecture will be held on Friday, April 16th at 4 p.m., preceded by a reception at 3:15 p.m. The weekend talks will commence on Saturday and Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m., concluding at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and 2:45 p.m. on Sunday. Most presentations will be 30 minutes long (which includes 5 minutes for questions). To accommodate more speakers within the two-day schedule the talks by graduate students will be 5 minutes shorter (25 min. including the time for questions).

The Conference Program is now available.

Accommodations and Venue

With the exception of the Rowlee Lecture all conference events will take place at the Holiday Inn Lincoln Downtown hotel, where a block of rooms has been reserved at $104/night + tax.

IMPORTANT: To make your room reservation, please call the Holiday Inn Lincoln-Downtown at 402-475-4011 and ask for "in-house" reservations. Do not use the website or let someone transfer you to Holiday Inn's Central reservation system - you will not receive the conference lodging rate. Mention that you are with the "UNL Math Conference". Please make a reservation NO LATER THAN March 8th, or you will be competing with 50,000 Nebraska football fans coming to town for the Spring football game on April 17th.

For other options see Local Hotels.

Air Travel

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is accessible from the Lincoln Municipal Airport (LNK), located approximately 4 miles from the main UNL campus and the Holiday Inn Hotel, and the Omaha Eppley Airfield (OMA), which is about an hour away. Shuttle transportation from Omaha can be arranged via http://www.omalink.com/ ($44.95 for one person or $69.90 for two people).

You may want to consider booking your flights soon in order to get ahead of the football fans flying in for the game.

Parking

We recommend all participants to reserve the accommodations and park at the Holiday Inn, which, in addition, is a fairly short walk away from the UNL Mathematics Department where the Rowlee Lecture will be held on Friday. If you are commuting, you can park at one of the downtown Lincoln parking garages for $10. There will be no free public parking available on campus or nearby downtown areas on April 17th.

Getting Around

The Rowlee Lecture will take place in Avery Hall, Room 115 (the Department of Mathematics is located on the second floor of Avery). All other conference events will be held at the Holiday Inn.

For your convenience a GoogleMap with the aforementioned locations (and other nearby hotels) has been created.

Expenses

We ask you to manage your own travel expenses and then submit your itinerary and receipts to us. Due to complications involved in processing of food-related refunds, we will instead sponsor two breakfasts and one lunch for all registered non-UNL participants in lieu of individual meal reimbursements.

Attendees directly affiliated with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will be required to pay a small fee.

If you are not a US Citizen or a resident alien, we will need copies of your passport and of all the documents supporting your visa in order to process a refund.
