Conference Recognizes Women Mathematicians |
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics
at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln hosted the fourth annual Nebraska
Conference for Undergraduate Women in Mathematics (NCUWM) February
1-3, 2002. The conference gave outstanding undergraduate women the
opportunity to discuss their own research and to meet other women
who share their interest in the mathematical sciences.....

Project
Fulcrum: Finding the Balance Between Education & Research
Since August of 2001, math and science students from the University
of Nebraska-Lincoln have been making a difference in elementary and
middle schools in Lincoln. Project Fulcrum, started by Dr. Diandra
Leslie-Pelecky and Dr. Gayle Buck from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
in partnership with Suzanne Kirby, a fourth-grade teacher at Clinton
Elementary School, has been helping these students, Project Fulcrum
Fellows, make an impact in the education of others.... |

School Girls Get Into Science
On February 22-23 the UNL Center for Science, Mathematics &
Computer Education and the Nebraska EPSCoR hosted the fourth annual
Women in Science conference at the Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln,
Nebraska. The purpose of the conference was to provide role models
to students who had been identified by their teachers as having
ability and interest in exploring a future in science. The keynote
speaker this year was Dr. Sylvia Wiegand.... |
